Coach Vellone was ejected on Fri May 8 in a 10-0 shutout of the Mariners baseball team against West Warwick.

Trailing 2-0 Vellone was tossed for arguing a call when Eddie Blessing, junior was called out attempting to steal second base, He will serve a 2-game suspension for his ejection

“We were really shocked, nobody thought Vellone said much and that the umpire overreacted to quickly,” Shaun Quirk, sophomore, said.

The Mariners struggles continued after Vallone’s ejection as the team had difficulty containing the wizards bats

West Warwick blew open the score in second putting up 4 runs on pitcher Luke Waranis, junior along with two other mariners hurlers who let up 10 runs on 10 hits.

“You can blame the weather but we have to hit when it comes time to hit and make the plays that we usually make,” Quirk, said.

The Mariners look to continue their busy season with two more games this week.
