On Tues April 28, the girls softball team lost in the 1st round of playoffs against South Kingstown, 10-0.

The game ended in the 5th inning due to an overpowering offensive performance by the Rebels.  However, The Mariners had an impressive season, ending with a record of 10-8.

“In my eyes [the season] was good,” Kiana Fanning, junior, said.  “We won a lot more games than last year and we got a lot of new freshman which was a lot of help.”

Senior pitcher Amelia Beauchemin had 64 strikeouts throughout the season pushing her team to 10-8.  It was her last season with the Narragansett softball team and she will be continuing her career at Keene State.

The Mariners also provided some strong hitting to complement their defensive success.  The team had 5 home runs throughout the season with 2 from Fanning.

“I try and go out there and do what I can to help the team,” Fanning said.

The Mariners graduated 3 seniors, Paige Martone, Shannon McDonald, and Beauchemin.
